How to resize an image

  1. Upload the image JPG, PNG or WebP.
  2. Choose pixels or percentage and write the new width and height.
  3. Mark the proportion if you don't want to warp the image.
  4. Process and download the result with its actual dimensions and weight.

Pixels vs Percentage

ModeWhen to use itExample
PixelsAn exact measurement for a website, a form or a print.800 × 600px
PercentageReduce or enlarge without calculating the final size.50% of 4000 × 3000 = 2000 × 1500 px

With the proportion locked, changing the width recalculates the height (and vice versa) using the original dimensions. If you unlock it, you can enter a different size in each side; the preview will show the warped result before downloading.

Quality and transparency

The file format is preserved. JPG is re-encoded with high quality and a background white if transparency is detected (JPG does not support it); PNG and WebP maintain the alpha channel. Resizing does not recover lost detail: when zooming, the browser interpolates the pixels.

Limits and memory

Files up to 25 MB are accepted, with a maximum of 16,384 px per side and 64 megapixels at the exit. The percentage ranges from 1% to 400%. Each image is processed once on a canvas temporary that is released upon completion; preview URLs are revoked when changing files or close the page.

Browser Compatibility

Works on Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari and current mobile browsers with 2D canvas. The quality of rescaling depends on the browser engine. On computers with little memory, a image of tens of megapixels may take time or fail even if it is within the limit: in that case case first reduce the file with a smaller version.

Frequently asked questions

Can an image be enlarged?

Yes, up to 400% or the pixel limit. Enlarging does not create new detail; just interpolate. For printing or large screens, it is advisable to start with a photo with sufficient resolution.

What happens if I unlock the ratio?

You can use independent width and height. The image will be stretched or compressed. The Preview and summary show exact dimensions before downloading.

Is the image uploaded to the server?

No. Resizing is done with canvas in your browser. There are no upload endpoints or external services involved.

Why doesn't the final file always weigh less?

Reducing dimensions usually reduces weight, but re-encoding a JPG or WebP can increase the size if the original was already highly optimized. The actual result is displayed before download and the original remains intact.

Do you maintain transparency?

In PNG and WebP yes. In JPG it is not possible: it is warned and a white background is used. If you need transparency, keep the PNG or WebP format.

If you also want to lose weight, try compress images o convert images.
